Thank you Maxim and everyone at Maxim Introductions! After much correspondence, phone calls, and two trips to Yoshkar Ola, I've finally married my wonderful Galina.
I started writing to her right after her birthday in 2004, and after a few months we were writing every day, and having regular phone calls. I knew that this could not continue, and that I had to meet her. So in September 2004 I made my trip to Moscow and Yoshkar Ola. My Galina met me at the Moscow airport, and we spent a few great days in Moscow, and then went back to Yoshkar Ola where I met her family and friends. The trip was everything I had dreamed of. Russia was a fabulous place! The people, the food, the culture, architecture etc., etc. were all wonderful! But the best was my beautiful Galina.
I left her at the train station in Yoshkar Ola, vowing to return. We continued our emails and phone conversations for the next few months, until I was able to return. I planned on a trip in February, to which anyone who had never been to Russia told me that I must be crazy to travel in the winter! Well, they were right, it was very cold, but not to bad, and I loved it! Growing up in from New York and now living in Florida, I think the Russians take the snow for granted. It's great, and I think everyone should make a Winter Russian visit. And then go to a banya! Again, I experienced great hospitality from Galina's family and friends, everyone at Maxim Introductions, and people in general.
After months of paperwork, Galina finally arrived in New York in June of 2005. We married in August, and I've never been happier. She's wonderful and a dream come true. She's been adapting to life in America splendidly, as I have been adapting to life with a Russian woman. We're already planning on a trip to visit the hometown, and look forward to seeing everyone, and sharing our experiences with everyone.
I'm sorry that this letter is so short. It was supposed to be a blog type recounting of my journeys, but work, and now married life have prevented the telling with that amount of detail. So again Maxim, my most heartfelt spaceebas to you, Hanaa, Nicolai, Vera, Sasha, Alona, the translators and everyone else for making my life complete. If you're ever in Florida, the door's open for you.
