Kozmodemyansk is a small town situated on the right bank of the Volga River. According to the legend the birth of the city was given by Tsar Ivan the Terrible when he having conquered Kazan was on his way to Moscow. He saw picturesque spot covered with green forest when an idea occurred to him. "It shall be the place for town", - the Tsar said. It was fall of 1583. The city name derives from names of two ancient saints who were called Kozma and Domian. Isn't this the place to dive into Russian history?
